About us

Kata Peleloan berasal dari bahasa Tondano, yaitu kata lo yang berarti “lihat” atau “pandang.” Dari kata tersebut, lahirlah nama Peleloan yang berarti “tempat untuk melihat atau memandang,” khususnya ke arah selatan, timur, dan utara Danau Tondano, serta wilayah Remboken, Kakas, dan Tondano.

Pada masa lalu, Peleloan menjadi tempat berkumpulnya para pemimpin dan tua-tua dari masyarakat sekitar danau (Touluur) untuk mengadakan pertemuan dan musyawarah.

Kini, Kelurahan Peleloan adalah salah satu dari empat kelurahan di Tondano, terletak sekitar 7 km ke arah selatan menyusuri tepi Danau Tondano. Peleloan dihuni oleh kurang lebih 450 kepala keluarga atau sekitar 1.560 jiwa, dengan luas wilayah ±285 hektare.

Penduduk Peleloan berasal dari komunitas Touliang dan Toulimbabot yang menetap di wilayah ini sejak tahun 1864. Sebagian besar penduduk bermata pencaharian sebagai petani dan nelayan, sementara yang lain berprofesi sebagai pengusaha atau pegawai negeri. Hasil utama yang dihasilkan meliputi ikan, jagung, dan berbagai hasil pertanian lainnya.
